St. Mary's Altar Society is an integral part of the Brazos Valley Deanery Council of Catholic Women.

The organizational chairperson is the resourse person for all other commissions such as: gathering prizes for the raffle fundraiser, encouraging participation in all conventions & meetings, social gatherings, membership drives, Nursing Home Christmas party.
Doris Rekieta (CEF - Clerical Endowment Fund)
This chairperson enrolls: members to CEF on their birthday when present at monthly meetings; first Communicants for a year, the Confirmation students every tow years and members experiencing death in the family. She also plans the annual CEF fund drive and submits a complete report of activities to the Deanery Chair. Interest from CD's is used for the education of seminarians of the Austin Diocese through the Bishop's Office.
Wanda Goodson (Spirituality)
This chairperson encourages members to spiritual growth, promotes prayer partners with Clergy & Deacons; maintains Altar flower decor for Pentecost, Mother's Day, July 4th, Holy Thursday, Fall Festival, Forty-Hour Devotion, Easter & Christmas; Altar linens, leading the Rosary prayed at the Grotto during May & October. She also provides the list of deceased members to be honored in the Memory Book at the next Convention.
Wanda Ray (Service)
They sponsor family meals after funerals and this involves appointing members to help in the kitchen. They assist the Nursing Home residents with bingo, in various community functions and encourage ecumenical services with other churches in the area.
Hattie Snider (International)
The contact person for the programs assigned by the Deanery/Diocese in relationship to women of foreign contries. She also collects used eyeglasses sent to organizations that supply those to foreign countries; collects fronts of used greeting cards to be used in the art department in area schools; collects coupons from General mills box tops for education points given to area schools; coordinates donations sugested by the diocese to help children in foreign countries.
Helen Talley (Rural Life)
The group provides for the needs of the Altar: vestment, altar cloths & linens, hosts, wine, candles, even flowers & plants; and many other items, religious and not, that help provide for the SM Church.
